When we band together, great things can happen! Our 2018 Rotary Mount Washington Summit will be jointly held by five Rotary Districts in Northeastern U.S. and Eastern Canada from May 3 through 6 at the Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. This Summit will kick-off with "optional" events on Thursday, May 3. The main events will run from Friday, May 4 at 12:00 noon until Sunday, May 6 at 12:00 noon.
This Summit is the ultimate showcase for the programs and projects underway at each of the Rotary and Rotaract clubs in our five Districts: 7780, 7790, 7850, 7910 and 7930. It is also a terrific opportunity for fellowship, inspirational speakers, program and project updates, and memorable social activities.
This energizing three-day meeting brings together Rotarians for four goals: to inspire, to empower; to motivate; and, to act. Our Rotary mission is to create positive impact through caring service, powered by you.
Why a Summit? Your attendance at this first-ever sort of gathering will provide the opportunity to collaborate with 600 to 1,000 Rotarians and guests in ways that will serve our local communities and the world at large. In this regard, we encourage you to do the following:
  • Be a leader in promoting this event! Open the world of Rotary up to hundreds of Rotarians coming together to do good.
  • Support positive global impact! All Rotarians will be even more engaged after attending the Summit as they will have a newer, more profound sense of what it is to be a Rotarian, and how the Power of One can impact others today and into the future.
  • Support positive local impact! Learn how you can more positively impact your community from others who have developed and implemented successful programs and projects and provide more opportunities for your members to serve.
This Summit will give Rotary members and clubs a vision of Rotary beyond the club level, and provide a memorable fellowship experience. Many Rotarians have said that they were never truly enthusiastic about Rotary until they saw inspirational presentations such as the ones to be showcased during the Summit, which offers these key attractions:
  • Great venue: The historic Omni Mount Washington Resort hotel has just undergone a $70-million renovation that has combined Old World charm and all of the modern conveniences. Whether you stay at the Mount Washington, the Bretton Arms or the Mount Washington Lodge, you will be right in the middle of the activities being planned. Other accommodations may be available, and day-trip options are available.
  • Keynote speakers and special guests: We have speaker commitments from RI President Ian Riseley, our keynote speaker for Friday evening, May 4, as well as Shirley-Pat Chamberlain and Razia Jan, of Razia’s Ray of Hope. Ms. Chamberlain is an incredible Rotarian from British Columbia with a special message, and Ms. Jan is a New England Rotarian with a remarkable story about helping women in Afghanistan to empower themselves. Many more speakers and programs will be announced as we get closer to the Summit.
  • Family activities: Bring your whole family, including your children and grandchildren, and encourage your RYLAins, Interactors, Youth Exchange students and Rotaractors to experience this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
For 112 years, Rotary has made a difference to more lives, in more ways, than we can ever count or will ever know. Today, each of us bears a torch, its flame lit by Rotary co-founder Paul Harris, which has been passed forward from generation to generation. By coming together at this Summit and sharing our knowledge and experience, we will send a clear, resounding message: Rotary Is Making a Difference.
