Dave Gardner's Personal Page

2017-2018 GOVERNOR

Dave first joined the Rotary Club of Malden, Massachusetts in 1986. In 2008, he became a member of the Rotary Club of Stoneham, Massachusetts, where he served as president in 2012-2013.

Dave's commitment to youth services was evidenced by his promotion and involvement in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards for four years, which led to the creation of an Interact club at Stoneham High School with 34 charter members. He has proudly served on the Polar Plunge Committee, having plunged into the Atlantic for four years in Rotary’s effort to eradicate polio.

As aide to Governor John Hall, in 2013-2014, Dave was immersed in the district. He served on the Vision Facilitation Committee and the Membership Committee and chaired the Communications and Technology Committee.

With his strong interest in building a stronger connection between Scouting and Rotary, he has introduced an initiative to collaborate with both the Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs. Rotary Means Business, another initiative that he has pioneered, seeks to build better business relationships among both Rotarians and other professionals interested in developing professional skills and new opportunities.

Dave is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a Paul Harris Society member. He was awarded the Cliff Dochterman Award for exemplary service to Scouting and Rotary. He has also been awarded the Silver Beaver by the Boston Minuteman Council, and is a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow.

Professionally, Dave owns a marketing-services company, and has been serving non-profit organizations and businesses with graphic design, printing, mailing services, ad specialties, and wide-format printing since 1985.

Dave lives in Stoneham with his wife of 35 years, Joni Gardner, who is a retired civil engineer with 36 years of service to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Their son, Christopher, is a lean engineer with AthenaHealth, and lives in Medford.
